Modernising Scientific Careers: MSc Clinical Sciences (Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory & Sleep Science, Gastrointestinal Physiology and Urodynamic Science)

Programme Timeline

September-October

Each year the trainees begin with an intensive teaching period, six weeks in year one and one week in each of years two and three. Within this teaching period the students undertake intensive teaching and practical periods, case based discussions and clinical theory and practice. Particularly in the first year this gives the students all the background theoretical learning and techniques to undertake their rotational and elective placements through the rest of the year.

March

This residential session lasts for one week and features a combination of MCQ assessments and teaching classes.

September

This residential session lasts for three days and is primarily an end of module assessment session with formal unseen written examinations and oral presentations.

Distance-learning

Trainees are based in their employment and learning is supported through a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), including discussion boards.

Support for Employers

Employers are provided with access to the VLE and have a special dedicated Discussion Board. Employers are also invited to employer forums and to training events. Employers have the opportunity to enrol on distance learning (eLearning training), to enable them to support their trainees in the most effective manner, e.g. in research skills.

Newcastle Travel and Accommodation
