Vision and Ageing
This theme aims to develop:
- Assessment tools and therapies for cerebral visual impairment in the elderly;
- Targeted nutrition strategies for the prevention of age-related macular degeneration; and
- Stem cell regenerative therapies for disorders of vision in the elderly.
We have close links with the dementia and neurodegenerative diseases theme and the North East England Stem Cell Institute (NESCI), a new collaboration between the Universities of Durham, Newcastle and the local Trust.
