Introduction

I am an ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in the visual problems of children. I undertake clinical research in this area with the aim of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of children's ophthalmic services. I am theme leader for vision research in the Newcastle Specialist Biomedical Research Centre for Ageing. My research interest in this field is the relationship between ocular and cerebral pathology in visual symptoms experienced by elderly patients, particularly those with early dementia.
