Urology Research Group

Urologists help people with urinary tract problems, which chiefly involve dysfunction of the prostate, kidney, bladder and male sexual organs. Our research is focused on the translation of advances in the understanding of disease into changes to the way we care for patients.  Current areas of research interest concern:

  • Androgen responsive pathways in prostate cancer
  • Anti-microbial peptides in urinary infections
  • Somatic stem cell biology
  • Urodynamic investigation
  • Clinical trials and Health Service Research

This work involves collaborations between urologists based at the Freeman Hospital and School of Surgical and Reproductive Sciences with scientists working in the Institutes that make up the Medical Faculty.
