Wellcome Trust Clinical Fellowships in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics

This highly innovative clinical fellowship scheme represents a collaborative venture between Newcastle University, the Wellcome Trust and internationally respected pharmaceutical companies in the UK and North America.

The aim of the programme is to provide clinicians with outstanding training in both the theory and practice of translational research. Our partnerships offer unique opportunities to explore the science of disease and, crucially, develop and apply approaches to using science to improve diagnosis and treatment.

The programme offers a combination of theoretical and applied training in translational research methodology with a unique Masters level programme the MRes in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, jointly delivered by university and pharmaceutical industry experts, followed by a PhD in translational research.

These fellowships will be particularly attractive to academically-orientated clinicians with a real in interest in the application of biomedical science in clinical practice and will benefit from the unique translational research platforms which are available in Newcastle (including the Clinical Research Facility, Magnetic Resonance Centre and the multidisciplinary Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU)).
