Aims

The module aims to:
•       Develop understanding of the processes of diagnostic histopathology and cytology;
•       Develop understanding of the principles of general cancer pathology, cancer screening and tumour markers;
•       Develop understanding of the aetiology, incidence, appearances, behaviour, prognosis and diagnosis of common tumours of the major organ systems.

As with other modules in the oncology pathway the design of learning materials will be guided by the cited module outcomes. These materials will place emphasis on the translation of the basic cancer science aspects of pathology into the clinical setting, allowing student to critically appraise the appropriate pathological information in relation to the clinical situation.

There is a formative assessment at the end of each topic - this comprises 10 MCQ's and feedback will be given.
