Students re-think economics with Sir Vince Cable

On Wednesday 22 February, Newcastle University Business School will welcome former British Politician and economics pundit, Sir Vince Cable to deliver a one-off lecture entitled ‘Economics in a post-crisis, post-Brexit world’.

The event has been organised by students from the Newcastle University Economics Society as part of the ‘Re-thinking Economics’ campaign, which brings people together globally to debate and discuss what economics is today and how it could be in the future.

Sir Vince Cable, former Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade (2010-2015), will be discussing his inside view of the coalition government and how the British economy should be managed over the next decade. His visit comes following his book release ‘After the Storm’ which gives a unique perspective on the state of global financial markets and the British economy.

Dan Moseley, Newcastle University Economics Society President, comments “We are thoroughly excited to host Sir Vince Cable at Newcastle University Business School and are overwhelmed by the response his visit has evoked. We were keen to open the lecture to all students not only just for those who study Economics, to ensure that economics is accessible to all.

“On behalf of the Newcastle University Economics Society, we wish to thank Newcastle University Business School for the support in hosting the event and for providing the funding to host such a high-calibre speaker”.
