Sharmishta Chatterjee-Banerjee

Background

Introduction

Sharmishta is responsible for operationalizing the School's external and international strategy by building global partnerships with academic and corprate partners and the public & third sectors across the School's three key areas of operation - research,  learning, teaching and student experience & employability. 

Sharmishta holds a BA (Hons) in Political Science and International Relations from Jadavpur University, India and a MA in Marketing Management from Nottingham Business School. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an alumna of the Association of Business School’s Development Programme for Senior Marketers. Sharmishta was nominated by the University in 2012 to participate in the Santander University's Leadership programme for Senior University Administrators at UCLA.

Sharmishta is also a governor at Newcastle Preparatory School and Director of the Genesys Dance Circle.

Previous Positions

Sharmishta joined Newcastle University Business School in 2006 as Marketing and Alumni Manager, following on from which she became International Business Development Manager in 2008 and Head of International Relations in 2010. Prior to joining Newcastle University Business School, she has worked in senior positions in a number of brand development and marketing roles at Southampton Solent University, Cunard Line Limited, Global Email Company, Trikaya Grey and Jet Airways.

Languages

Hindi and bengali and conversational dutch.

Informal Interests

Sharmishta enjoys travelling,volunteering, socialising and entertaining. She is also a trained classical dancer in Odissi, one of the six forms of India clasical dance
