Bio-imaging equipmentThe bio-imaging central facility (and associated equipment) aims to provide an invaluable state-of-the-art microscopy resource to industry.

Services Offered

The facility caters for a wide variety of imaging requirements and can offer:

  • conventional brightfield
  • phase
  • DIC
  • widefield–fluorescence microscopy
  • confocal-microscopy including two photon microscopy and ‘high-content’ confocal screening

This allows us to cover a wide range of imaging techniques for example:

  • Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleach (FRAP)
  • Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)
  • time lapse (live-cell) and volume (z-stack) imaging

Our equipment can accommodate many whole-animal, fixed and live-cell imaging requirements; using the Nikon BioStation, observations can even be made over several days with ease. All data obtained can be analysed in-house using one of several dedicated and networked workstations.

We can provide a broad range of services and training to suit everyone from ‘fledgling’ microscopists to those of a more experienced nature.

Use of the facility, its equipment and its services are on three levels ranging from: fully serviced (we do the work for you!), assisted-service or self-service once the user is fully trained.
