Research Centre for Catalysis and Intensified Processing

Research Centre in Catalysis and Intensified ProcessingThe University Research Centre for Catalysis and Intensified Processing (URCCIP) is a joint chemistry / chemical engineering unit established to facilitate interdisciplinary research relevant to the chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors.

Specific goals of URCCIP include:

  • Transforming the energy economy to address the major challenges of decreasing fossil fuel supplies and the need to reduce CO2 emissions
  • Substantial transformation of synthetic routes for fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals production by innovative application of novel chemistry and methodologies resulting in remapping of synthetic processes and step-changes in sustainability

Services Offered

  • Joint research projects
  • Consultancy
  • Training courses for industry
  • Access to state of the art equipment and facilities for homogeneous and heterogeneous catalyst preparation, characterisation and kinetic testing.

We are overseen by an Industrial Advisory Board comprising senior members of local, national and multinational chemical companies and have a track record of collaborative research with industry and have generated a number of spin-out companies as a result.
