The cavitation tunnel provides an efficient service to ship owners, shipyards or propeller manufacturers, utilising the knowledge of both academic and technical departmental staff.

The Emerson Cavitation Tunnel which is the only medium sized tunnel within a UK University offering background research and development services for cavitation, noise, propulsion, turbines, coatings and drag related activities. Additionally the tunnel is supported by its own scientific and technical staff, together with mechanical, electrical, electronic and model making technicians of the School of Marine Science and Technology.
