Flow Cytometry Core Facility

Flow Cytometry Core FacilityThe Flow Cytometry core facility is currently located at the Centre for Life and the William Leech Building in the Medical School to enable optimal access for cell sorting and analytical flow Cytometry.

Services Offered

The facility contains a mixture of cell sorters providing 4 way multi parameter high speed droplet cell sorting and non sorting flow cytometers ranging from 4 colour up to 16 colour capability.

Accessory instrumentation includes Lyse wash assistants, high throughput sampler module and a Vi Cell cell counter, viability and sizing instrument. These are all invaluable aids to flow Cytometry analysis and sorting. A full suite of flow Cytometry analysis software is also available on each site to enable you to analyse acquired data quickly and efficiently remote from the instruments.

There is a big emphasis on education and help by all core facility staff. We are happy to assist in the set up of any experiment, recommending optimal instrument set up, fluorochrome choice and any other issues that impact on the use of the facility.

The facility runs a one day flow Cytometry meeting once per year that has been very well attended by a worldwide audience, in addition we offer a 2 day, in depth, flow Cytometry colour compensation course, again very well attended and run approximately 4 times per year.

The type of samples that are routinely run within the facility range from cell cycle analysis and stem cell side population, multicolour sorting and phenotyping, multiplexing for soluble cytokines, and cytokine secretion assays.
