RCID work in the offshore sectorEstablished in 1995 the Resource Centre for Innovation & Design (RCID) is a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with a mission to deliver Engineering Design Projects that support both the mission of the University and the economic development of all our clients.

Our expertise covers mechanical, electrical and electronic systems design, product development and software engineering.

The RCID has been awarded certification to ISO 9001:2008 for Mechanical Engineering Design, Analysis and Consultancy Services.

Services Offered

We can undertake full design, build and testing of prototypes to customer specifications or relevant standards. Services include mechanical design (including Finite Element Analysis - FEA), electrical and electronic analysis and design in a number of different sectors and software engineering:

Laboratories available:

  • Mechanical Design and Analysis
    • Analysis and Design CAD/FEA based on Solidworks/Cosmos, ProEngineer/Mechanica and Mathcad
  • Electronic Design
    • Electronic CAD tools including Altium Designer, Micro-controller IDE, compilers and general test equipment (oscilloscopes, Data loggers etc.)
  • Software Engineering and Visualisation
    • Microsoft Visual Studio, Compilers (C#, java, visual basic, C++), Database development tools e.g. SQL, 3DS MAX 2010 etc.
