Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)

The KTP at Newcastle works to place our researchers and ambitious graduates within companies on strategic projects. The project work not only adds value to the business, but benefits from continuous input and support from an academic team. Uniquely, the KTP scheme allows companies to take on a full-time member of staff without the overhead costs.

A project can involve:

  • improving efficiency
  • implementing automated procedures
  • marketing
  • identifying new markets
  • identifying new customers
  • breaking into new or international markets
  • whatever the business sees as important to their future.

Based on previous experience from our schemes, companies reported benefits including:

  • an increase in the overall value of the company
  • increased overall sales
  • increased sales in existing domestic markets
  • increased profitability.
