Rick Lewis and his team are part of the 350th Anniversary Celebrations of the Royal Society

Royal Society at London's South Bank Centre

A team of structural biologists led by Prof Rick Lewis is to showcase their science as part of the

350th Anniversary Celebrations of the Royal Society, in London's South Bank Centre, from 25th June to 4th July 2010.

Other than Rick, Susan Firbank, Jon Marles-Wright, Elisabeth Lowe and Lorraine Hewitt will be attending the event and talking to members of the public about their research that is carried out in Newcastle, but which is underpinned by the Diamond Synchrotron Light Source in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The visitors to the Newcastle stand, part of a larger exhibit co-ordinated by Diamond, will be able to talk to the Newcastle team about how crystal structures of proteins are solved, why it is important to have this information, and how the Newcastle projects might impact on people's daily lives.
