Research Interests

The major interest of my lab. is NK cells, a set of immune cells with prominent granules that plays an important role in defence against infectious disease and cancer.  Our research is focussed on the development and recognition capabilities of these cells.   Both are controlled by surface receptors, many of which belong to multigene families such as the NKRP1, NKG2, and Ly49 families, and in recent years my lab. has been involved in studies of each of these families.  The group has an international reputation,  collaborates with several laboratories in the UK and abroad, and over the last 20 years has been continuously funded by grants from the BBSRC and MRC.
