Previous Positions

Research fellow in Professor C.L. Peterson's Lab, UMASS MEDICAL SCHOOL, USA. Funded by a fellowship from the Leukemia Society of America to study the role of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodelling complex in transcriptional regulation.
Research fellow in Br. B.A. Morgans's lab, University of Newcastle. Funded by the BBSRC to study stress signalling and stress-induced gene expression in the model eukaryotes Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe
MRC Career Development Fellow to study stress responses in Schizosaccharomyces pombe

Research Interests

My laboratory is interested in stress responses in eukaryotes. Specifically we are investigating the role of stress-activated MAP kinase pathways in mediating stress-induced changes in gene expression. We use the yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism to study stress responses, due to both its genetic amenability and the evolutionary conservation of stress responses that exists between this yeast and higher eukaryotes. We also study stress-responses in the human pathogens Candida albicans and Candida glabrata, as such responses are tightly linked to the pathogenesis and virulence of these fungi.
