Newcastle Cardiovascular Trials and Research (NECTAR)
NECTAR was established in 2010 with the goal of promoting and carrying out adult clinical cardiovascular research.
As well as carrying out cardiovascular research studies in the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, NECTAR is also the organisation that coordinates patient and carer involvement in cardiovasular research

The Young Persons Advisory Group - North England (YPAG-NE)
The Young Persons Advisory Group provides young people aged 11 to 17 years with the opportunity to be involved in design and delivery of clinical and public health research. The new cardiovascular group is helping to design research studies into congenital heart disease.

North East England Cardiomyopathy Support Group
We are the local support group for patients with all types of cardiomyopathy in the North East and are part of the national charity Cardiomyopathy UK.
We aim to be a friendly, welcoming group and a source of support and information to patients with their families from across our region.

Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF)
CHUF’s mission is to make life better for children and young people who are born with or develop heart conditions.
We support children and families who receive treatment by the Children’s Heart Unit based at Freeman Hospital.
We also support the many hospitals providing care for cardiac patients throughout the North of England. We raise funds for facilities and equiptment, specialist support staff and resarch.
We also provide services that help children with heart conditions develop their skills and mature as any healthy child would.
