Whatever level of education you have reached, there are opportunities with us to learn and research. Our annual Baltic Meeting for the Cardiovascular Scientist of Tomorrow is a great place to find out more about the research students carry out and to meet us.
Undergraduate research opportunities
We can arrange for sixth-form students to spend a few days in the research environment. We can organise a summer four to six-week placement for biology-based degree students.
Biomedical sciences students keen on cardiovascular can choose from many appropriate final year projects. Contact us if there is an area of particular interest, to ensure we put the right project forward.
MRes Cardiovascular Sciences
The Masters in Research programme creates opportunities for students to study in a variety of contexts. It can be as a core degree or linked with other courses, eg genetics, stem cell biology or therapeutics.
This degree program is also followed by intercalating medical students. Contact us and our student support team will advise and get you in touch with the right people.
PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences
PhD studies are available in all our areas of research for both basic laboratory and clinical themes. We advertise funded opportunities in out Latest News section.
There are also opportunities for international students. Many groups will work with enthusiastic students to develop a research project.

Newcastle University Medical Student Cardiovascular Society
Our Medical School has an active medical student Cardiovascular Society, affiliated with the national British Undergraduate Cardiovascular Association (part of the British Cardiovascular Society).
We are proud to have the cardiovascular student group as members of the CardioVascular Research Centre.
