Looking for a new challenge this summer?

Newcastle Work Experience is offering paid five or 10 week work placements to current and graduating Newcastle University students. The placements provide you with project based experience and the chance to put the theory learned in your degree into practice.

Our Newcastle Work Experience (NWE) scheme is now offering summer placements for 2010. The placements offer current and graduating Newcastle University students the chance to gain valuable work experience by working on a specific project for a local business.

The placements are between June and October, and students are paid a tax free bursary of £1200 for five week projects, or £2400 for 10 week placements.

Placements are available in a wide range of areas to suit most degree disciplines, including Marketing, Business Planning, IT, Media and Engineering.

Students taking part last year found the placements to be invaluable in helping them progress towards their chosen career. Geography student, Kelly Brough undertook a placement with Food Local Food. She said, ‘It has made me think more seriously about a career in marketing and perhaps going into further education in this area to focus my skills. It has also given me the experience of working in a small business where you are involved in many aspects of its running. This has allowed me to have more of an impact on the business than I otherwise would have in a larger organisation.’

The first placement is now being advertised, with many more to follow. To apply, visit Vacancies Online, selecting ‘Work Experience/Paid/Part Time’ and ‘Newcastle Work Experience’.
