Rise Up shortlisted for National Awards!

Rise Up has been shortlisted for two awards at the 3rd National Enterprise Educator Awards (NEEA).

The Rise Up Student Committee, a group made up of the Rise Up interns, the Newcastle University Entrepreneur Society and SIFE Newcastle has been shortlisted in the ‘Student Educators’ category, whilst Claire Adamson (Development Officer) has been shortlisted for her commitment towards supporting the SIFE team in the Enterprise ‘Champions’ category.

Daniel Ellis a Rise Up intern nominated the Committee for the Student Educator Award as he believes that the committee has a unique model of practice and one that deserves to be shared with other institutions. Daniel stated “We are very fortunate at Newcastle to have several student groups passionate about enterprise and entrepreneurship. We have come together in the realisation that collaboration is far stronger than competition.”

Claire was nominated by Jane Nolan an Entrepreneur in Residence at Newcastle University. Claire has recently been rewarded for her commitment to SIFE as she won the ‘SIFE University Adviser of the Year Award’, however Jane recognised the continued support Claire has given SIFE and believes she has a great chance of winning in September.

Gareth Trainer (Assistant Director of Entrepreneurial Development) quoted “It is fantastic that the Rise Up community has been recognised for its excellent student-led initiatives and the dedication of the staff supporting them. The quality of the entries to the NEEAs is always extremely high, so we are particularly proud that the student led committee and Claire have been shortlisted.”

All shortlisted members will now attend a NEEA Ceremony at the IEEC Gala Dinner in September 2011 where the winners of each category will be announced.

We wish them the best of luck!
