Barbara Phillips-Kerr

Background

Barbara joined the Careers Service in May 1990, initially as a careers adviser and subsequently as a team and then unit manager. In 2007 she was appointed Assistant Director (IAG).

Roles and Responsibilities

She has strategic responsibility for the provision of high quality information, advice and guidance services to undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers and Foundation doctors. As a member of the Careers Service's strategy team, Barbara's responsibilities include the development and promotion of ncl+, the ncl+ Foundation and the ncl+ Student Achievement Awards. She is also responsible for the development, implementation and dissemination of opportunities provided by the Careers Service to students as part of the Newcastle Graduate Skills Framework. As a careers adviser, Barbara has specific responsibility for students in the School of Computing Science, the School of Biology and PGCE students in the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences.   

Qualifications

Barbara graduated with a BA (hons) in German and a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance.
