What is SIFE?
Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) is an extracurricular voluntary activity that is all about making a lasting impact on other people's lives.
It is an opportunity for you to develop the skills for business leadership while creating opportunities for others in their local and international communities through the transfer of skills and knowledge. It is also an opportunity for you to network with some of the biggest names in business.
How does it work?
Supported by university advisers and business professionals you will form a team to devise and run projects based around the six SIFE principles.
Each year, a series of regional and national competitions provide a forum for teams to present the results of their projects and celebrate their achievements. National champions from all over the globe are then invited to advance to the SIFE World Cup. SIFE is active in more than 1,800 universities in 47 countries.
History of SIFE at Newcastle University
"The SIFE National Competition was such a valuable experience – it not only provided the team with the opportunity to showcase our projects on a national stage, but from a personal perspective we have all learnt so much and gained in confidence. We now need to ensure that we build on our success and create a sustainable future for SIFE Newcastle."
Clare Everett, SIFE Team Leader, 2010.
