What is Passport to Work?

Passport to Work provides brief training and work shadowing (2-4 hours) in areas such as hospitality, customer service, administration and retail. The scheme is aimed at current students of Newcastle University who are looking for paid work in the UK but are finding it difficult due to a lack of work experience on their CV. Please note that all sessions are unpaid.

Passport to Work takes place twice a year:

  • October - December
  • February - March

What are the benefits of taking part in Passport to Work?

Passport to Work gives you the opportunity to observe staff undertaking key aspects of their job. You will gain transferable skills and experience in a real work situation to add to your CV. You will also get a certificate outlining the experience you’ve gained to show employers when you’re looking for work.

How can I apply?

Sessions are available at a variety of locations on or near the University Campus and last between 2-4 hours.

Passport to Work enables you to shadow a broad range of roles including reception staff, bar work, barista and front of house. You can apply for more than one session.

Full details of the locations and roles available for next semester will be available in October 2015.
