Watch your internet footprint

Employers are increasingly searching the internet before selecting candidates, including sites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. There have been cases where employers have withdrawn job offers to people who have made inappropriate or negative comments about the company or its staff.

Make sure that whatever you write on a public website is something that you would be happy for a potential recruiter to see. See also TARGETjobs for useful advice on managing your online presence.

Need more help?

It takes time to land your first job, so don't be discouraged by rejections. If you want to look at improving your applications or interview technique visit the Careers Service to find out how we can help you. Conversely, you may have to choose between more than one offer - if you need to talk it over, you can speak to an adviser.
