Neuroimaging of auditory and visual sytactic learning: does the brain have a "syntactic hub"?

My research interests are rooted in how the human brain has changed during its evolutionary history. My work specifically focuses on how the faculty of language evolved and whether this complex ability is supported by a neural system that has gradually adapted from a common ancestor.

By using both behavioural and neuroimaging techniques my research attempts to isolate the core neural capabilities that work together to create language, along with the neural circuits that subserve these linguistic capabilities.

Furthermore I wish to see if the same neural circuits that are active during the processing of linguistic grammatical structures are also active when the sensory stimuli are presented visually.
