We encourage enquiries at any time from students who would like to pursue a full-time research degree, either for one year (MPhil) or for 3 years (PhD) in any of our areas of research. Research supervisors and their research areas can be found by looking at our staff list or research areas. Please contact individual members of staff directly about possible positions in their lab or opportunities for self-funded students. Please also see our vacancies page for current funded PhD opportunities.
As an MPhil or PhD student, you will be very much a part of the active research environment of our Centre. You will have access to excellent facilities in one of the largest animal behaviour groups in the country. We have weekly research meetings, where you will be able to discuss ideas and research with other students and CBE members, and present some of your own findings. We also have regular visitors, external speakers (both from academia and industry) and workshops in areas of mutual interest (see News & Events). Many of our PhD students publish papers during their degree, and are actively encouraged to do so. Our recent graduates have also been highly successful in securing post-doctoral positions and other scientific and research related jobs (see recent students for more details).
