Elaine Martin, Professor of Industrial Statistics in the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials, has been recognised by the Queen in her New Year Honours List.
Professor Martin receives an OBE for services to science, and recognises her contributions to the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
Over the past years, she has served on a range of panels helping to form the strategic direction of EPSRC, including the Strategic Advisory Team for Engineering. She has also been a member and, ultimately, Chairperson of the Technical Opportunities Panel, and as a consequence a member of Council.
Responding to the news of her honour, Professor Martin said, "I was very surprised to receive the award and I feel extremely privileged and honoured. To be recognised for doing something that is close to my heart makes it even more special."
