Spin-out & Start-up Companies
Since 2001, 5 spinout companies have been formed to commercialise intellectual property (IP) arising from School research:
- NewChem Technologies Ltd offers a range of contract R&D services to the chemical, energy, pharma and life sciences industries.
- Concordia Diagnostic Sensors has developed the first advance warning system for corrosion in concrete stuctures and has been awarded a SMART award.
- ITI Energy Ltd has been formed to commercialise gasification technology developed in the School.
- Clarizon Ltd is commercialising patented IP in electrochemical ozone generation with a customer base in the US, UK and Far East.
- Lyrachem is a joint spin out with Durham University Chemistry. A range of services across the R&D lifecycle is offered from route development, to scale up and thermal safety, also a service providing fast highly effective batch to continuous assessment with the opportunity for pilot trials.
