The School has continued to be at the forefront of research into process performance monitoring. Areas of interest both theoretically and to industry have included:
Dynamic multivariate statistical process control utilising a state-space approach with the ability to incorporate changing raw materials and process conditions. These algorithmic developments continue to be integrated into software to enable them to be utilised by industry. Applications in chemical, biochemical and biopharmaceutical processes have demonstrated an ability to provide concise information to process operators and allow them to make pre-emptive decisions.
