Water

River Tyne Clean water is clearly a vital resource for everyone.  At CEAM we are developing innovative processes for cleaning up waste water to reduce environmental impact.  This includes developing novel reactors, and a number of ingenious processes that rely on “electrocatalysis”, and even “photoelectrocatalysis”.

Photoelectrocatalysis for disinfection has been demonstrated at a pilot scale for the first time, as has detoxification using electrocatalysis. Electrochemical reduction and oxidation for the treatment of a range of aqueous and organic wastes has also been successfully developed, and the process chemistries understood, resulting in spin-out companies NewChem and Clarizon.
