Through the integration of new process measurements alongside new advanced spectroscopic measurements including acoustic monitoring, a more efficient approach to process scale-up and scale-down will be developed based on iterative model-based experimental design. Multi-block modelling approaches will be extened to allow process and spectral data fusion taking into account process dynamics and time dependant behaviour. Hybrid models comprising known phenomenological information and relationships alongside experimental and measured process and analytical data will enable modelling across processing scales concurrently linked into downstream processing design and optimization will lead to faster process scale-up.  Experimental data and simulation results will be used in an iterative scale-up / scale-down loop to refine the process models and scale-up objectives. Applications will be through the EU Bioproduction project with scale up studies being carried out in collaboration with CPI.
