BursariesThe School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials offers a number of undergraduate bursaries and scholarships to eligible students based on pre-University achievement.

Home Students

If you are classed as a UK or EU student for fees purposes, you will get:

  • £1,500 for the first year of study if you enter with at least AAA at A-Level or equivalent.
  • £1,000 for the first year of study if you enter with AAB at A-Level or equivalent.
  • £500 for the first year of study if you enter with ABB at A-Level or equivalent.

The School also offers a limited number of Excellence Scholarships worth £1,500 per year to highly qualified applicants. These scholarships are payable for every year of the degree programme and are extremely competitive.

Overseas Students

If you are classed as an overseas student for fees purposes (ie. if you are not a national of a European Union country), you will receive:

  • £1,500 for each year of the degree programme if you enter with at least AAA at A-Level or equivalent.
  • £1,000 for each year of the degree programme if you enter with AAB at A-Level or equivalent.
  • £500 for each year of the degree programme if you enter with ABB at A-Level or equivalent.

You may also be eligible for an International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship (IUMS) awarded by the University worth £2,250 in the first year. If you receive an IUMS in the first year, the School will make a commitment to match the value of this award in subsequent years of your degree programme. Therefore, you may receive up to £3,750 per year from the School after the first year.

Please note:
In all cases, the continuation of an award beyond the first year of study (if applicable) is subject to satisfactory performances and progress. Students may not hold more than one School award at any time. The School awards will only be offered to applicants who choose a course offered by the School of Chemical Engineering & Advanced Materials as their UCAS first choice.

None of the awards are available for Foundation Year, Gap Year or Repeated Year nor for any year spent in industry, including as part of the MEng (Industry) degree (H815).
