Project Details

asphaltenesAsphaltenes are well known to be one of the most important components causing blockages in oil pipelines and fouling in refineries which lead to enormous costs. They are also responsible for the formation of tar mats in petroleum reservoirs, which can impede crude oil recovery. This project focusses on the structure and function of asphaltenes, as based on the Yen-Mullins model, where the recent application of acoustic spectroscopy has been particularly exciting.

Informal enquires by email from all prospective PhD students are very welcome.
