The School enjoys an excellent relationship with a broad range of employers both in the UK and internationally. Companies frequently approach us directly to seek out our students for summer work and graduate jobs.
We also work closely with the University’s award winning Careers Service. They ensure you have the very best support and guidance available, with access to the online jobs board with useful links, tips and ideas for job hunting.
As well as working accross the UK, our graduates are also world-wide with Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Holland and France just some of the overseas destinations for recent graduates.
The majority of our graduates work in civil engineering consultancy with companies such as Arup, AECOM and Royal Haskoning. We also have students who choose civil engineering contracting, working with companies such as BAM Nuttall, Balfour Beatty and Laing O’Rourke. There are many other organisations that our graduates work for too, including Transport for London, Network Rail, the Army and utilities companies such as South East Water and EDF Energy.
Graduate employment for our Geomatics graduates is outstanding at 100%.
The offshore oil and gas industry is a major employer with companies such as BP, Shell, Fugro, Subsea 7 and NCS Survey seeking graduates from our courses. Civil engineering, construction and utility companies rely on surveying and GIS skills too and we have graduates working with Costain, Skanska and Yorkshire Water. We also have graduates working in organisations such as the Ordnance Survey and the Environment Agency.
Since 2006, we have recruited 12 geomatics graduates from Newcastle University. They have gone on to be valuable members of the team at NCS Survey and many are starting to take on more senior roles in the company. Newcastle is always one of the universities we look to when we need graduate surveyors.
