Mine Water Pollution and Remediation

[ Book online ]

This course examines the causes, consequences and remediation of one of the UK and Europe's major causes of freshwater degradation due to metals: abandoned coal and metal mines. The course covers the causes of mine water pollution, the type of pollution arising, and the impacts of mine water pollution. Taking a catchment-scale approach, the course provides details of monitoring strategies for assessing mine water pollution, and provides in depth knowledge of approaches to remediation.

The course is appropriate to those involved in addressing pollution of the environment due to metals, including consultants, regulators and local authorities.
