Solid Waste Management

This course will be of interest to those wishing to understand the principles and techniques of solid waste management, including the legislative, environmental, economic and social drivers. Delegates will be introduced to the selection and design of appropriate methods of storage, collection, transfer, treatment and disposal in both industrialised and developing countries. The course also provides the opportunity to visit recycling facilities and disposal sites to better understand links between theory and practice.

Delegates will be introduced to the selection and design of appropriate methods of storage, collection, transfer, treatment and disposal in both industrialised and developing countries. The course also provides the opportunity to visit recycling facilities and disposal sites to better understand links between theory and practice, and would be particularly valuable to individuals with limited knowledge of solid waste management options. The emphasis of the course is to understand approaches for reducing net energy consumption in waste management and making systems more sustainable into the future.

Formal assessment may be available for this Course. Assessment attracts an additional fee of £275.00, and delegates will be issued with a transcript and Certificate of Credit Achieved.
Owing to visa restrictions the assessment option is not available to international students outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
This course is also delivered as a Module (code CEG8105) on at least one of the School's Masters programmes, the majority of which can be studied part time, making them suitable for those in employment.
