Transport Modelling

[ Book online ]

This course provides delegates with an understanding of the key components of the travel demand modelling and forecasting process. It covers a number of relevant themes in the context of the four step planning model. The theory underlying the four step planning model is studied in detail by a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, hands on computer training sessions and class presentations. Several travel demand forecasting related case studies will be incorporated to demonstrate the link between practice and theory.

The course will cover:

  • Trip Generation Modelling
  • Trip Distribution and Mode Choice Modelling
  • Traffic Assignment Modelling.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will have:

  • an understanding of transport planning and forecasting strategies;
  • an awareness of the problem solving/decision making techniques widely used in the transport sector.

The course will help delegates to develop:

  • advanced methodological skills related to transport demand modelling and forecasting;
  • analytical, research and presentation skills;
  • the ability to work in a team.
