Newcastle has been chosen to act as host for the regional centre for the Cambridge Primary Review (CPR) network. Sponsored by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation the CPR National Primary Network is a direct response to requests from teachers and others who attended regional and national dissemination events following publication of our final report in October 2009.
The network therefore aims to:
• support reform in primary schools, local authorities and teacher education and training
• support and influence local and national policy development
• enhance the quality of primary education.
Dr Kate Wall will be the regional coordinator and is working with schools and existing networks in the region to explore what the network should look like and which aims from the Cambridge Primary Review should act as a focus. She can be contacted by email: katewall@primaryreview.org.uk or Kate.Wall@durham.ac.uk

A Learning Walk at Murton Primary School, Co. Durham
Cambridge Primary Review Aim(s): fostering skills and engagement
June 14th 2011 from 9-12.30 including lunch
The school has asked for the following questions to be targeted:
• How does our environment support, or how could it be improved to further support, our curricular goals?
• Are levels of progression evident throughout the school?
• Is there sufficient evidence of non-negotiable skills being taught, used and applied across the school?
• To what extent does the use of ICT underpin the curriculum?
A learning walk is the opportunity to visit a school along with professionals from other teaching contexts, to explore a theme related to the Cambridge Primary Review and discuss particular aspects of primary practice. Learning walks will provide professional learning opportunities as well as providing a basis for further evidence collection around the Cambridge Primary Review aims in practice.
Places at this event are limited to 7 in the first instance, and it is free. To register please contact Vivienne Moffett: Vivienne.Moffett@ncl.ac.uk
SCOPING EVENTS
The aim of these events is to facilitate shared experience and discussion around each of the aims from the CPR report. At these events network members will be asked to bring along a piece of evidence which they believe encapsulates that aim in practice in their school (this could be video, a child’s work, planning documents etc). These will be the centre of a discussion to explore areas of commonality and difference when putting the CPR into practice. Discussion will be recorded for analysis.
Events will always be from 2-4pm. There are 30 places on each which will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Scoping events are FREE.
For further information about the seminars or to sign up to attend please contact Vivienne Moffett: Vivienne.Moffett@ncl.ac.uk
