The research group of Dr Michael J. Hall has been successful in securing a highly competive EPSRC First Grant award.
The project aims to examine a total new synthetic approach to making molecules, using sequential pericyclic reactions to develop high levels of molecular complexity, very rapidly. The results of this study will lead to better and more efficient tools for synthesising molecules which can be used in the construction of novel drugs. Selected molecules generated by this study will be screened as potential antibiotics and anticancer agents in collaboration with our partners Demuris Ltd. and colleagues at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research (NICR).
