Major Funding Award for Chemical Nanoscience

Chemical Nanoscience Laboratory

The Chemical Nanoscience Labs have recently been awarded funding from the EU-FP7 NMP programme (Nanotechnology and nanosciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices). The €3.5M LAMAND (Large Area Molecular-assembled Nanoscale Devices) project will run for 3 years and involves academic groups from the universities of Newcastle, Cork, Ioannina, Selcuk, CNRS Paris, and the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology, and industry partners, Intel, Profactor and Kanichi Research.

The Newcastle team of David Fulton, Andrew Houlton, Ben Horrocks, and Andrew Pike will be developing new polymer systems and surface modification routes for nanopatterning of surfaces for applications in nanoelectonics.
