This year’s public Wynne–Jones lecture will be given by Professor K C Nicolaou, the Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of California in San Diego. His lecture is entitled Molecules that Changed the World and will map the development of civilisation through the discover of key chemical structures. The lecture will take place on 16th October 2012.
Lord Wynne–Jones was a distinguished Professor of Physical Chemistry and Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Newcastle and the lecture is sponsored annually in October by his daughter, Kristin. 'We are delighted to remember the contribution that Professor Wynne–Jones made to the Chemistry School here at Newcastle' says Professor Mike Green, Head of School 'and are grateful to Kristin for sponsoring what is now a major event in our diary'.
