Why Study Natural Sciences?

A Natural Sciences degree is ideal for students who enjoy science and want the flexibility to continue study of more than one subject at university. The degree allows you to study 3 or 4 science subjects or to combine 3 sciences with a non-science subject such as Business.

Studying Natural Sciences at Newcastle allows you to demonstrate your abilities in more than one area - a feature highly valued by employers and great news for your career prospects.

How the Natural Sciences degree is structured

Students study 120 credits in each year of their degree which is made up of a combination of major and minor subjects:

Years 1 and 2

Either

or

Year 3

† Must be based on one of the major subjects being studied in Year 3 or an additional 20 credits in Mathematics

‡This can be any of the major or minor subjects studied in Years 1 or 2

Example Pathways in Natural Sciences
