It's Elementary..... My Dear Watson!

This presentation was developed by Anne Willis and Dr Peter Hoare in the autumn of 2010 as part of their ongoing collaborative Chemistry outreach activities between Northumbria and Newcastle Universities respectively.
It is the successor to the very popular "Chemistry in Your Shopping Basket" interactive presentation, aimed primarily at students in years 5 - 9, which will continue to be available for presentation in regional schools.
"It's Elementary..... My Dear Watson!", as the name suggests, looks at the properties, reactions and uses of a range of chemical elements using a similar format to "the Basket", i.e. an interactive powerpoint presentation with electronic voting handsets, spectacular demonstrations and some audience participation. It is aimed primarily at years 9 - 11, i.e. GCSE level, but as with our other outreach presentations, will be easily tailored to a wide range of audiences!
Following a successful premiere at Jarrow School in January 2011, "It's Elementary..... My Dear Watson!" is now available for bookings and there are both GCSE/year 10 - 11 and KS3/years 7 - 9 versions available.
