This is an annual event that is held around Easter each year.
Dr Peter Hoare started these workshops during his Royal Society of Chemistry School Teacher Fellowship year in 2008 to 2009. They have been repeated in each academic year since. They continue to prove popular with a variety of schools and colleges across the region.
They are offered for both AS and A2 Chemistry, tailored to fit the two most common A-level Chemistry specifications studied in North East schools, namely AQA and OCR A.
We can deliver individual modules in schools and colleges but the on campus workshops will now be generic AS and A2 workshops, each covering selected topics from the whole of each year. They will run between 10am to 4pm each day and include two interactive revision sessions with a one hour break for lunch.
Each revision session consists of a short summary of the key points and typical student misconceptions from each selected topic area. This is followed by a variety of on-screen questions which the students answer using electronic voting handsets. Each student is also provided with a revision booklet containing a comprehensive set of revision notes covering all topics for each year.
Thanks to continued support from RSC ChemNet this year, we are able to offer a fixed number of places at the on campus workshops free to ChemNet members. This is first come, first served but there is only one free workshop per member to ensure as many eligible students can benefit from this.
You will need to provide your membership number when you book (as an individual) or school/college teachers will need to supply these details for a group booking.
The booking form now has an upload file facility to provide a list of students and their ChemNet membership numbers.
