A-level Revision Workshops
Annual events - now held around Easter each year
These workshops were instigated by Dr Peter Hoare during his RSC School Teacher Fellowship year in 2008-09 and have been repeated in each academic year since. They continue to prove popular with a variety of schools and colleges across the region.
They are offered for both AS and A2 Chemistry, tailored to fit the two most common A-level Chemistry specifications studied in North-East schools, namely AQA and OCR A - separate A2 workshops are now offered for AQA and OCR A at A2 level, as the distribution of topics between the two A2 modules of each Board are now significantly different.
Each workshop consists of two 2 hour interactive revision sessions with a lunch break between. Each session consists of a short summary of the key points and typical student misconceptions from each selected topic area, followed by a variety of on-screen questions which the students answer using electronic voting handsets - hence the "interactive". Each student is also provided with a revision booklet containing a comprehensive set of revision notes.

The dates for the Easter 2013 Revision Workshops are detailed below and the online booking form may be accessed here. This information has also been advertised by e-mail to all our schools/colleges contacts. Venue will be either Lecture Theatre 3 or Lecture Theatre 1 in the Bedson Building, depending on total numbers booked for each workshop.
Monday 25th March - A2 OCR workshop; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
Tuesday 26th March - A2 AQA workshop; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
Thursday 28th March - AS workshop - AQA/OCR Unit 2 ; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
As previous years, these workshops will be repeated in the first week of the Easter holidays:
Tuesday 2nd April - A2 OCR workshop; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
Thursday 4th April - A2 AQA workshop; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
Friday 5th April - AS workshop - AQA/OCR Unit 2 ; 10.00am - 3.00pm; venue Lecture Theatre 3, 1st floor, Bedson Building.
As with previous workshops, there will be a charge of £10 per student, which includes a comprehensive revision notes booklet. Unfortunately, as these on campus workshops occur outside University term time, we are no longer able to provide lunch in the University Bistro.
