If you have applied for a degree through UCAS and have been unsuccessful in securing a place, Clearing gives you a second chance.
After A level results day, all universities with spaces available on their degree courses will advertise vacancies - usually on their websites.
You can see if they have any courses that interest you, then phone their hotline to see whether they can offer you a place.
Clearing is highly competitive. If you think you are likely to need to apply through Clearing, it is worth checking university websites in the fortnight leading up to A level results day to find out more about the process and how to prepare.
Adjustment applies if you've exceeded the conditions of your first choice offer.
After A level results day, you have several days to consider other universities.
If you've done better than expected in your exams, it's a chance to broaden your horizons and apply to a university that you might have thought you couldn't get into previously.
Universities will usually have information on their websites during the Clearing and Adjustment period explaining what to do next.
Aim higher! Newcastle University is delighted to welcome high achieving students via Adjustment.
