Careers

There are many careers open to Combined Honours graduates. The flexibility of your degree means you'll have a particularly broad career choice - especially if the skills you've developed during your degree have been further enhanced by work experience.

Successful Combined Honours students are often adaptable, well-organised and self motivated, with a variety of skills and qualities which employers are keen to use. The occupations are therefore as varied as the courses themselves. Around 40% of all graduate vacancies advertised in the UK don't ask for a specific degree subject. This means you could go in to a wide range of the areas of employment open to graduates such as:

  • management or administration
  • commerce or finance
  • teaching
  • social and community services
  • central and local government
  • journalism or the media

Our graduates have gone on to work for a wide range of organisations, from the Tate Art Gallery and Carlton Television to PricewaterhouseCoopers and the British Army. All employers will value the range of transferable skills and experience which you can demonstrate. A number of our Combined Honours graduates choose to study for higher degrees or other postgraduate qualifications.
