Pre-requisites: Grade B in Mathematics and English at GCSE (or equivalent) normally required.
You will study the provision and analysis of information for a variety of:
- resource allocation
purposes. This subject allows you to gain exemption from the foundation level professional accounting examinations.

Economics is the study of the factors that influence income, wealth and wellbeing.
It seeks to inform the design and implementation of economic policy.
You'll gain an understanding of how resources are used and how households and firms behave and interact.
This understanding is required at both the individual (micro) and the aggregate (macro) level.
Economics aim is to analyse and understand the allocation, distribution and utilisation of scarce resources and their consequences for economic and social wellbeing.
A key discipline in the social sciences, it also engages with:
- sociology and anthropology
Using mathematics and statistics, accounting is engaging increasingly with sciences such as biology, environmental science and medicine.
Understanding economics is essential for an understanding of business behaviour, strategy and corporate performance.
Its one of the central subjects underpinning the study of business and management and related areas.
Marketing and Management
You'll gain a broad understanding of business concepts and contemporary marketing theory and practice with Marketing and Management.
The subject has a strong vocational orientation. You'll get the opportunity to apply theory to practice with:
- case studies
- practical projects
- optional work placement
Its supported by modules in core management theory that aid your understanding of the role of marketing in business and organisations.
