Oonagh McGee

Coordinator, Digital Institute & EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training

Background

Oonagh is the Coordinator for the Digital Institute, managing the activities of the institute, which span research, teaching and engagement

She is responsible for the coordination and delivery of activities linked to the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Cloud Computing for Big Data, contributing to the design and delivery of the Research Skills module and supporting the delivery of learning on the Professional Skills module.

She is currently studying towards a Doctorate in Education (EdD) at Newcastle University.

She leads on communications, financial management, event management, administration, HR support and prepares management information for the executive committee. 

She applied for and was awarded a Joan Hughes bursary, through the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA), to investigate impact capture practices across HEIs. She presented the results of her work at the ARMA conference and the Society of Research Administrators International conference in 2015. 

She was previously the Research Hub Administrator for SiDE, a £12 million research project, which ran from 2009-2015. As well as operational and financial management, Oonagh managed the hub's communication strategy and represented the project at many events.She was responsible for leading, writing and developing content for the hub’s website, social media accounts and newsletter. She lead on organising project events, such as the national Digital Economy All Hands conference. She monitored the hub's budget and provided reports to the management committee. 

Her previous roles have spanned community education, public and private sector education and research administration and human resource support roles in higher education.

She has previously been employed as a research assistant in a project investigating how to develop leadership potential in undergraduates and leadership development within the curriculum, funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund.

She holds a BSc in Health and Human Sciences from Durham University and an MA in Human Resource Management from Teesside University.
