The Poetics of the Archive: Creative and Community Engagement with the Bloodaxe Archive

This AHRC funded, 18 month project explores the 60 000 item archive of Bloodaxe Books, one of the most eminent and innovative contemporary poetry publishers in the world. This collaborative project involving the Digital Interaction group, the department of English Language and Linguistics (with the Newcastle Centre for Literary Arts) and Bloodaxe Books themselves, explores the collection of manuscripts, correspondence and other items to creatively re-imagine the nature of the archive. Workshops and participatory design processes with community groups will inform both new academic research and creative projects. A new, 'generous interface' to the archive will provide web-based visualizations that open the archive in new and innovative ways.
